Inspiration Day

Hello world! Please join me on my 2012 Adventure!

I’m on a Mission to raise $10,000 for New Hope on the Plains!

This year, I am riding my bicycle across the northern United States in June, July & August.  I am requesting pledges for each mile pedaled.  The route is approximately 4,300 miles long and begins at the Pacific Ocean in Anacortes, Washington and ends at the Atlantic Ocean in Bar Harbor, Maine.  States ridden through will be:  Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hamphire and Maine.

I rode across the center of the U.S. in 2008 with one friend bicycling and one friend driving and pulling a camper.  That adventure covered 4,000 miles in 60 days.  In THIS 2012 ADVENTURE, I will be riding mostly solo, and carrying all my gear in panniers (bags) on my bike and camping in a tent at night.  Because I am carrying all my gear, and averaging 50 miles per day, the trip will take the better part of three months.

If you don’t know me…I grew up Traci Barlow as a farm girl near Holcomb, Kansas.  I married John Wentling in 1976 and we moved to Dodge City, Kansas in 1983.  We have been married almost 36 years and have two grown children, Cody and Angie, a daughter-in-law, Mechell, and a grandson, Tristan.  I’m 54 years old and also participate in running events and triathlons.
